SWBAT:

  • Synthesize information on Early River Valley Civilizations, Greece, the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire, and the Development of Christianity for the purpose of preparing for the Unit 1 Exam.

Step 1: Mrs Silver will give each student the handout Review for Unit 1 Exam. She will go over each step, as written on the handout, instructing students as to what and how they will need to study for the exam. Mrs. Silver will begin by passing out a blank 2 column PERSIAN chart and ask students to take out their 4 column PERSIAN chart that was graded and given back to them. Mrs. Silver will explain that they will need to fill in the 2 column PERSIAN chart with 2 ancient RVCs that they will choose and can remember easily. She will also tell students that they will need to write 2 bullets for each box of the PERSIAN chart. The PERSIAN chart that they fill in will be the one that they will need to study for the test.

Step 2: Mrs. Silver will give each student the blank Compare and Contrast handout and ask them to fill in the section headers with Athens and Sparta. She will explain that students will need to fill in the boxes with 3 bullet points each.

Step 3: Mrs. Silver will ask students to take out of their binders, should be in the handout section, the handout Ancient Greece Contributions. Students will need to circle 3 contributions, and be able to define and explain the lasting contribution for the test.

Step 4: Mrs. Silver will give each student 2 handouts: Ancient Rome Study Guide and Rome: A Visual Study Guide. Mrs. Silver will explain to students that the first handout will be worth 3 points if they complete, in entirety, with complete sentences. The second handout will be worth 5 points - they will need to draw a picture that is representative of the definition. Mrs. Silver will explain to students that these sheets will help them to obtain EXTRA CREDIT points for the test.

All of these materials should be completed and used to study for the Unit 1 Test.
