Lesson for the Day:

Step 1: Students will begin by answering the Do Now-What was the Dynastic Cycle and its relation to Mandate of Heaven? with 4-5 complete sentences. Once students have completed, we will discuss, as a class, 4-5 complete sentences that should be written. Students should be able to distinguish and explain the relationship between the Dynastic Cycle and The Mandate of Heaven as it relates to the Rise and Fall of Dynasties.

Step 2: Mrs. Silver will introduce "Sui, Tang, and Song" Dynasties via PowerPoint. Students will follow instruction by taking Cornell Notes. She will add verbal details to the power point to give them more background information and context as we move through each slide. Students will finish Cornell Notes by writing a summary at the bottom of the Cornell Notes about the 3 Dynasties as discussed throughout the presentation as well as student engagement with material that has been shown.

Step 3: Students will use the information from the power point and handouts to complete a graphic organizer. The graphic organizer will cover each Dynasties Time Period, Rulers, and Reasons for Decline, as well as, each dynasties lasting contributions as related to inventions, the significance of that invention, and its lasting impact on not only their society, but future societies. Students will turn in graphic organizer at the end of class to assess their level of understanding.

Step 4: Homework: Students will complete a DBQ on the Tang and Song Dynasties. Students will use Documents to help them answer accompanying questions.
