Lesson for the Day:

Step 1: Students will begin looking at the Do Now-Students typically write 4-5 complete answers to address the Do Now, but today they are simply taking a look at Renaissance Art.

Step 2: Mrs. Silver will introduce The Art of the Renaissance via PowerPoint. Students will follow instruction by taking Cornell notes. She will add verbal details to the power point to give them more background information and context as we move through each slide. Students will be able to analyze the integration of new techniques used in the creation of advanced art. Students comprehension of the concept will deepen as it is discussed throughout the presentation as well as student engagement with responses.

Step 3: Mrs. Silver will introduce Renaissance vs Medieval Art via PowerPoint. Students will follow instruction by taking quick notes next to the pictures. She will add verbal details to the power point to give them more background information and context as we move through each slide. Students will gain an understanding of the similarities and differences between Medieval/Middle Ages Art and Renaissance Art.

Step 4: Once Mrs. Silver has discussed Renaissance Art and the advancements from Medieval Art she will pass out the Compare and Contrast handout to students. Students will use their notes to fill in the sections to the graphic organizer. Mrs. Silver will give students 10 minutes to work on the handout on an individual basis. After the 10 minutes have passed, Mrs. Silver will instruct students to partner up and use the Think, Pair, Share strategy to discuss the information they wrote in the sections. After the 5 minutes have passed Mrs. Silver will use Class Dojo to randomly select students to share their answers.

Step 5: Mrs. Silver will ask students to put away notes and chart in the appropriate sections. Next, she will ask students to take out the Masters of the Renaissance power point notes. She will allow students to study the notes for 2 minutes, then will inform them they are to clear their desks for a POP Quiz.
