Know that Enlightenment thinkers applied reason to discover natural laws guiding human nature in social, political, and economic systems.
Understand how the philosophy of Enlightened thinkers rejected Church doctrine and emphasized earthly as well as spiritual welfare.
Navigate a Seven-Station Activity analyzing characteristics of personalities of the Enlightenment (Skill).
Lesson for theday:
Step1: Mrs. Silver will explain that students will be completing a station activity. Mrs. Silver will give each student the Graphic Organizer for the Enlightenment thinkers. She will explain that students will be given 6 minutes to read the placard and write in the Enlightenment thinkers Major Contribution and the significance of that contribution. After that students will be given 4 minutes to share their findings/responses as a table. Mrs. Silver will give examples of what a major contribution would be, i.e...books, things said, etc. She will then ask students to move to the table that matches the number that was given to them. (Students were given a number, 1-7, as they walked through the door). Once students have moved to their tables, she will display the class clock so that students will know how much time they have for silent reading and reflection, as well as sharing responses.
