Lesson for theday:
Step1: Students will begin by answering the Do Now-What is the most extreme measure you would be willing to undertake to stay in power? with 4-5 complete sentences for each question. Once students have completed we will discuss, as a class, the complete sentences that should have been written. Students should be able to determine actions that one would take as a leader, if necessary, to not lose power or their country.
Step 2: Mrs. Silver will introduce The Radical Phase via PowerPoint. Students will follow instruction by taking guided notes-writing in corresponding words to blanks. She will add verbal details to the power point to give them more background information and context as we move through each slide. Students will be able to determine the characteristics of the Reign of Terror and how it impacted France. Students comprehension of the concept will deepen as it is discussed throughout the presentation as well as student engagement with responses.
Step 3: Mrs. Silver will pass out the French Revolution Timeline Activity. Students will work individually reading documents and answering questions on the timeline. Mrs. Silver will give students 15 minutes to complete.
Next, students will share their answers. Mrs. Silver have a whole class discussion and choose students to share their responses to the questions by using ClassDojo to randomly select students.
Step 4: Mrs. Silver will pass out the French Revolution Video Viewing Guide. She explain to students that they will be watching a video clip that breaks down the entire French Revolution into a 23 minute video. Next, she will read aloud the questions to all students so that they will know what they need to be listening for in the video.
Step 5: Mrs. Silver will pass out the study guide for Unit 3. She will tell students that they have tonight and tomorrow night to study for their test. Students will need to complete page 1 front and back tonight and page 2 tomorrow night.
