I Want Students:

  1. Know how political, social, and economic crisis lead to the over throw of established institutions.

  2. Understand how to explain the systems in place that lead to chaos, rebellion, and revolution.

  3. Read and respond to guided reading questions to build comprehension (Skill) then collaborate (Skill) within a small group to come up with the best responses to complete the assigned organizer.

Lesson for the day:

Step 1: Mrs. Silver will begin class by passing out the 6 slice pizza handout. She will explain that students will need to obtain 6 different partners in order to complete today's activity. Mrs. Silver will demonstrate for students to know how to do this in an efficient manner.

Step 2: Next, Mrs. Silver will pass out the reading Europe in Crisis: The Wars of Religion. Mrs. Silver will explain that students will read the reading by sections, that will be timed, and will move to pizza partners before each reading. Students will be given 8 minutes to read on an individual basis, then they will participate in the Think, Pair, Share activity for their responses to the guided questions for the reading. Mrs. Silver will give students 5 minutes to share their responses with their partner. After 5 minutes have passed, the class will participate in a whole class discussion of the selected reading. She will give students opportunities to respond and earn class dojo points.

Step 3: Mrs. Silver will ask students to go back to their seats upon completion of the activity. Once students are in their seats, she will ask them to answer the two reflection questions "The Restoration" and "A Glorious Revolution" at the end of their guided question packet. Students will need to answer by writing a 4-5 sentence response/summary.
