I Want Students:

  1. Know the function of religion in ancient civilizations, and how it governed their day-to-day lives.

  2. Understand and research various characteristics of five major religions.

  3. Complete a World Religions organizer each day (Skill).


Lesson for the day:


Step 1: Mrs Silver will begin class by assigning table groups to students as they enter the classroom. Students will go to their assigned table. Once they are at their table, Mrs. Silver will pass out page 2&3 of the organizer to students. Next, Mrs. Silver will explain that they will moving from table to table (station activity) to research and gather information for the 5 Major Religions, as well as their geographic location. Students will record their information on the graphic organizer. Groups will be provided with a textbook and paper copies of each religions Basic Tenets. Students will be responsible for recording information for each religion. Each table will have a different religion and students will move from table to table every 12 minutes. Mrs. Silver will display the countdown clock via the smart board, so that students will be able to manage their time efficiently. Students will be given the entire class time to work on their research.
